The Enbridge Mainline connects the Western part of Canada to the Eastern. Canada has to send their crude oil through America. U.S. refines that oil and sends it to the Eastern part of Canada. Any loss of oil should be made up for by the Bakken shale oil. Crude prices are likely to stabilize. Product prices however jumped and should sustain high levels as we get much of our refined products from Canada.
U.S. petroleum imports from Canada totaled 4.1 million barrels per day in 2023 consisting of crude (3.8 million b/d) and refined products (0.3 million b/d), according to data compiled by the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) from customs declarations. Total imports had grown by an average of 4.7% per year from 2.3 million b/d in 2010.
